Series 7 has been SCRAPPED

We have just been informed by the Field Trial Committee that this test has been scrapped.

This test will be started tomorrow starting with the same dog that started today – Dog # 44.

The Test dogs will run at 7:45 am with the first running dog at 8:00 am.

Have a good evening and rest up for the Workers' Party tonight at the Best Western headquarters hotel.

4. BAYOU TECHE PAINT THE BLACK, "Madduxx," LM, Glen Curtis

Madduxx and Glen came to the line at 3:11 pm.

Flyer - Long Bird - Madduxx went up through the cover, out to the area for a short hunt and returned with his bird.

Retired - He went through the cover, past the corn and mound. He went to the bush with the gunners and circled it. Hunted a little wide then he went deep right getting farther away. However, he came back and got his bird.

PICK UP - 3. CANDLEWOODS MEET MR OTIS, "Otis," LM, Rod Sage

Otis and Rod came to the line at 3:07 pm.

Flyer - Quick job of retrieving his bird.

Retired - Otis went through the cover, left of the mound to the bush. He turned and made a loop, then went to the side with the bird. He then left the area headed for the flyer and had to be picked up.

2. PEPPERJACK'S DEAL ME AN ACE, "Dealer," LM, Misty Melo

Dealer and Misty came to the line at 3:03 pm.

Flyer - Dealer went under the arc, came around and got the bird.

Retired - He went through the cover, skimmed the corn to the right of the tree. He went back to the mound and hunted the corn, but then worked his way out to the area and to his bird.

PICK UP - 1. LEADING LADY OF THE PACK, "Lady," LF, Hunter Street

Lady and Hunter came to the line at 2:58 pm

Flyer - Good Job - right to the bird.

Retired - Lady got through the heavy cover and right of the mound. Going deep and back to the flyer...Picked Up

PICK UP - 44. MICKEY'S VICTORY RUN, "Harley," LM, Christian Alt

Harley and Christian came to the line at 2:53 pm.

Flyer - Harley came close to the front of the guns. He got a little deep, came back closer and got his bird.

Retired - He got through the heavy cover and around the mound....Picked Up

Test Dog - Seventh Test - Queen

Queen came to the line at 2:43 pm.

Flyer - Queen came in just under the arc, she turned right for a loop then back left to get her bird.

Retired - She went out through the cover, right of the mound to the top of the far hill. She had to be handled to her bird.

Series 7 - Test Dog - Zeke

Zeke came to the line at 2:32 pm.

Flyer – Zeke went straight to the bird.

Long Left –  Zeke stepped right on the bird.

Note: At this point, the long rooster pheasant was NOT retired.


Test 7 - Land Double with One Retired – SCRAPPED

The Seventh Series is a land double with one retired – SCRAPPED

The mat is on the left side of a mound facing a field that has an uphill slant.

The first bird is a is a dead rooster pheasant thrown angle back at 225 yards from the line. When the dog goes for the flyer the gunners will retire behind a large bush. The dog goes down the mound, through a moderate cover and between standing corn and a mound, then on to an area of heavy cover left of where the gunners retire.

Bird number two is a hen pheasant flyer. This bird is located straight in the front of the mat and shot to the right at 180 yards. The field has been stripped.






Callbacks To The Seventh

32 dogs have been called back to the 7th series, they are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 27, 30, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 41, 42, 43 and 44.

2 dogs were dropped, and they are 18 and 39

Dog # 44 starts the next series.

It's In The Books - Series 6

That a wrap on the 6th Series of the 2018 National Retriever Derby Championship with an official time of 1:45 pm!

We are waiting on callbacks and will post them as soon as get them.

35. HUNTERS CHOICE XX, "Archie," LM, Bill Goldstein

Archie and handler Bill came to the line at 1:36 pm for their 6th test.

Right Bird - Nice line out to the fall area and his mark was recovered quickly.

Long Left - Excellent place to get into the first pond. Archie circled in the middle of the pond then went back to the land bridge. He crossed the bridge and into the second piece of water. He swam towards the guns, then turning left he got his bird.



34. STILL WATERS PULLIN' THE PEACEMAKER, "Colt," LM, Clint Weitzel

Colt and Clint came to the line at 1:26 pm for their 6th test.

Right Bird - Nice Line - Colt came in a little wide left but turned right then left and got his bird.

Long Left - He angled across the field and swimming the first pond in line with the guns. He went out and over the land bridge and into the second pond on the same line towards the guns. He got to the tip of the land below the gunners then crossed over to the get his bird.

33. OLDSQUAW'S LITTLE RASCAL, "Rascal," LF, Frank Purdy

Rascal and Frank came to the line at 1:18 pm for their 6th test.

Right Bird - Excellent Mark!

Long Left - Good line through the field and the first pond. Rascal got over the land bridge and swam straight to her bird.



32. HOSTESS CITY'S SEASIDE TORNADO WARNING, "Windy," LF, Jason Baker

Windy and Jason came to the line for the running of their 6th test at 1:12 pm.

Right Bird - Windy went right to her bird and Front Footed It!

Long Left - She angled across the field and continued that angle swimming the first pond being parallel to the shore. She went out and over the land bridge, running some of it before she got back into the second piece of water where she went straight to her bird.

30. TEUFELHUND HALLS OF MONTEZUMA, "Zuma," LF, Buck Shope

Zuma and Buck came to the line at 1:03 am for their 6th test.

Right Bird - Excellent Mark!

Left Long - Nice line across the field and a good line in the first pond. Zuma went over the land bridge and into the second piece of water, straight to her bird.



27. BREEZY CHIRPING CRICKET, "Cricket," LF, Hunter Street

Cricket and Hunter came to the line for their 6th test.

Right Bird - Cricket went straight to her bird!

Long Left - She went across the field and on a nice line in the first pond that carried over the land bridge, through the second pond and straight to her bird.



Condition Update - 6th Series

Our temperature is now at 56 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Our wind is WSW at 16 MPH.

A bit chilly but we are still getting these dogs through their 6th test.
