In The Books - Series 10

The 2018 National Derby Championship 10th series is in the books at 12:54 pm. This completes the competition for 2018 … and now we wait for the judges finals decisions and the crowning the 2018 National Derby Champion.

Handled - 34. STILL WATERS PULLIN' THE PEACEMAKER, "Colt," LM, Clint Weitzel

STILL WATERS PULLIN' THE PEACEMAKER, "Colt," with handler Clint Weitzel came to the line for their final test.

Flyer - Colt had to hunt for this bird. His hunt pattern started short and to the left, but he worked his way to the bird.

Right - He got into the pond and over the end of the point. He went up the terraced hill and hooked the guns to bring him in for his bird.

Long Middle - He took off and missed the pond and popped and had to be handled.





33. OLDSQUAW'S LITTLE RASCAL, "Rascal," LF, Frank Purdy

OLDSQUAW'S LITTLE RASCAL, "Rascal," with handler Frank Purdy came to the line at 12:33 pm for their final test.

Flyer - Rascal took a few moves on the way out to a long flyer and got her bird.

Long Middle - She went up through the pond to the far right end. Going over the levee and out to the right, she then went up the terraced hill, but missed the bird, she hunted the hillside and got her bird.

Right - He went down the hill, paralleling the shore close to the bank. She went over the point and angled across the pond to the fall area and the bird.

HOSTESS CITY'S SEASIDE TORNADO WARNING, "Windy," LF, Jason Baker came to the line at 12:22 pm for the final test.

Flyer - Windy went out to this long bird and had one loop deep then over to retrieve it.

Right - She went down the hill to the pond and angled right across it to the point. She went up then continued on going up the hill and directly to get her bird. - Nice!

Long Middle - She went through the first pond and the corner of the second, also slicing the corner of the third pond. Out of the water, she drove up the hill towards the gunners. A sharp turn in front of them that brought her to the area of the fall and her bird.

TEUFELHUND HALLS OF MONTEZUMA, "Zuma," LF, Buck Shope came to the line at 12:12 pm for their last test.

Flyer - What a nice job!

Long Middle - Zuma went into the pond down the middle. She went over the terrace then up the hill straight to her mark.

Right - Going down and into the pond, she went over the point and up the hill behind the guns. She then traveled to the right then down to her bird.




27. BREEZY CHIRPING CRICKET, "Cricket," LF, Hunter Street

BREEZY CHIRPING CRICKET, "Cricket," with handler Hunter Street came to the line at 12:00 pm for their final test.

Flyer - Cricket went straight to her bird.

Right - She went down hill and into the pond going over the point at a right angle heading towards the guns. Out of the water she angled across the terraces and straight to her bird.

Long Middle - Into the first pond, exiting it at the far right corner, she went through the tulle and into the second pond. After the water she climbed the terrace to the right of the guns and came in under the arc. She made two loops deep then got her bird.

BAYOU-STAR FLEURTY GIRL, "Fleurt," with handler Suzan Caire came to the line at 11:51 am for their final test.

Flyer - Fleurt took one turn left of the fall and worked her way back to get her bird.

Right - She went down the hill and into the pond. Going over the tip of the point, she angled right swimming towards the guns. Exiting, she went up the terraced hill and got behind the gunners and took several loops then she went to her bird.

Long Middle - Down into the first pond, she swam it angling right. She went up the levee and into the back pond. Exiting the water she went up the terraced hill to her bird. - Nice!




20. SWIFT RIVERS JEFFERSON MONTICELLO, "Jefferson," LM, Buck Shope

SWIFT RIVERS JEFFERSON MONTICELLO, "Jefferson," with handler Buck Shope came to the line at 11:40 am for their final test.

Flyer - Jefferson had an moderate hunt but got his bird.

Right - He went down the hill and into the pond on a great line towards his mark. Going up the terraced hill he hooked behind the guns and went directly to his bird.

Long Middle - He went into the first pond, getting out and going over the levee and up the terrace into the second pond. Going up the terrace to the guns, he hunted his way to the bird.

In the 44 dogs that entered we have a total of 19 dogs that were born in 2016 and 25 born in 2017.

19. TOP LINE RANGER LEADS THE WAY, "Ranger," LM, Marc Patton

TOP LINE RANGER LEADS THE WAY, "Ranger," with handler Marc Patton came to the line at 11:28 am for his final test.

Flyer - Ranger got out to the fall area but hunted a little short. Making one or two quick turns he then moved to his bird.

Right - Going down the hill and into the pond, Ranger swam past the end of the point on a line to the left of the guns. Getting out and up the terrace heading left of the guns, he crossed the backside of the gunner to get his bird.

Long Middle - He went down the hill and into the first pond, swimming hard to the far right end. He got out and went over the levee and into the second pond. Exiting the water he went up the hill to the left of the guns. Taking a pass or two he crossed to the right to get his bird.



Male vs Female

The 2018 National Derby Championship has a total of 44 dogs entered.

The males vs the females is exactly 50/50 with 22 Female and 22 Male Labradors originally entered in this national.

Out of the 22 females, we have 21 Black and only 1 Yellow Labradors and out the 22 males, there are 20 Black and 2 Yellow Labradors.

ROCKET'S HOTTER THAN A CHIMNEY FIRE, "June," with handler Christian Alt came to the line at 11:17 am for their final test.

Flyer - June went under the arc and behind the guns then back out to her bird.

Right - She went down the hill, crossed the pond on a great line towards her mark. Out of the water, she went up the terraced hill right of the guns. She hunted deep and took one loop right to quickly get her bird.

Long Middle - She went down the hill and into the pond, angling right out of it. Onto the levee and into the second pond, she ran around and up the terrace straight to her bird.



14. BEAVER CREEK'S MAGIC WHITE LIGHTNING, "Madge," LF, Sol Semmler

BEAVER CREEK'S MAGIC WHITE LIGHTNING, "Madge," with handler Sol Semmler came to the line at 11:06 am for their final test.

Flyer - Great line all the way to her bird.

Right - Madge went into the pond on a line towards the bird. She angled back left coming in wide left of the guns. Angling up the hill to the right, she came in behind the guns and then out to her bird.

Long Middle - She went down the hill into the first pond. Coming out on the right side, she went up and over the levee and into the back pond. Exiting out of the water, she went straight up the terraced hill to the fall area and to her bird.
