In The Books - Series 10
The 2018 National Derby Championship 10th series is in the books at 12:54 pm. This completes the competition for 2018 … and now we wait for the judges finals decisions and the crowning the 2018 National Derby Champion.
Handled - 34. STILL WATERS PULLIN' THE PEACEMAKER, "Colt," LM, Clint Weitzel
STILL WATERS PULLIN' THE PEACEMAKER, "Colt," with handler Clint Weitzel came to the line for their final test.
Flyer - Colt had to hunt for this bird. His hunt pattern started short and to the left, but he worked his way to the bird.
Right - He got into the pond and over the end of the point. He went up the terraced hill and hooked the guns to bring him in for his bird.
Long Middle - He took off and missed the pond and popped and had to be handled.

33. OLDSQUAW'S LITTLE RASCAL, "Rascal," LF, Frank Purdy
OLDSQUAW'S LITTLE RASCAL, "Rascal," with handler Frank Purdy came to the line at 12:33 pm for their final test.
Flyer - Rascal took a few moves on the way out to a long flyer and got her bird.
Long Middle - She went up through the pond to the far right end. Going over the levee and out to the right, she then went up the terraced hill, but missed the bird, she hunted the hillside and got her bird.
Right - He went down the hill, paralleling the shore close to the bank. She went over the point and angled across the pond to the fall area and the bird.
Flyer - Rascal took a few moves on the way out to a long flyer and got her bird.
Long Middle - She went up through the pond to the far right end. Going over the levee and out to the right, she then went up the terraced hill, but missed the bird, she hunted the hillside and got her bird.

32. HOSTESS CITY'S SEASIDE TORNADO WARNING, "Windy," LF, Jason Baker
HOSTESS CITY'S SEASIDE TORNADO WARNING, "Windy," LF, Jason Baker came to the line at 12:22 pm for the final test.
Flyer - Windy went out to this long bird and had one loop deep then over to retrieve it.
Right - She went down the hill to the pond and angled right across it to the point. She went up then continued on going up the hill and directly to get her bird. - Nice!
Long Middle - She went through the first pond and the corner of the second, also slicing the corner of the third pond. Out of the water, she drove up the hill towards the gunners. A sharp turn in front of them that brought her to the area of the fall and her bird.
Flyer - Windy went out to this long bird and had one loop deep then over to retrieve it.
Right - She went down the hill to the pond and angled right across it to the point. She went up then continued on going up the hill and directly to get her bird. - Nice!

Flyer - What a nice job!
Long Middle - Zuma went into the pond down the middle. She went over the terrace then up the hill straight to her mark.
Right - Going down and into the pond, she went over the point and up the hill behind the guns. She then traveled to the right then down to her bird.

BREEZY CHIRPING CRICKET, "Cricket," with handler Hunter Street came to the line at 12:00 pm for their final test.
Flyer - Cricket went straight to her bird.
Right - She went down hill and into the pond going over the point at a right angle heading towards the guns. Out of the water she angled across the terraces and straight to her bird.
Long Middle - Into the first pond, exiting it at the far right corner, she went through the tulle and into the second pond. After the water she climbed the terrace to the right of the guns and came in under the arc. She made two loops deep then got her bird.
Flyer - Cricket went straight to her bird.
Right - She went down hill and into the pond going over the point at a right angle heading towards the guns. Out of the water she angled across the terraces and straight to her bird.

Flyer - Fleurt took one turn left of the fall and worked her way back to get her bird.
Right - She went down the hill and into the pond. Going over the tip of the point, she angled right swimming towards the guns. Exiting, she went up the terraced hill and got behind the gunners and took several loops then she went to her bird.
Long Middle - Down into the first pond, she swam it angling right. She went up the levee and into the back pond. Exiting the water she went up the terraced hill to her bird. - Nice!
Flyer - Fleurt took one turn left of the fall and worked her way back to get her bird.
Right - She went down the hill and into the pond. Going over the tip of the point, she angled right swimming towards the guns. Exiting, she went up the terraced hill and got behind the gunners and took several loops then she went to her bird.

Flyer - Jefferson had an moderate hunt but got his bird.
Right - He went down the hill and into the pond on a great line towards his mark. Going up the terraced hill he hooked behind the guns and went directly to his bird.
Long Middle - He went into the first pond, getting out and going over the levee and up the terrace into the second pond. Going up the terrace to the guns, he hunted his way to the bird.

TOP LINE RANGER LEADS THE WAY, "Ranger," with handler Marc Patton came to the line at 11:28 am for his final test.
Flyer - Ranger got out to the fall area but hunted a little short. Making one or two quick turns he then moved to his bird.
Right - Going down the hill and into the pond, Ranger swam past the end of the point on a line to the left of the guns. Getting out and up the terrace heading left of the guns, he crossed the backside of the gunner to get his bird.
Long Middle - He went down the hill and into the first pond, swimming hard to the far right end. He got out and went over the levee and into the second pond. Exiting the water he went up the hill to the left of the guns. Taking a pass or two he crossed to the right to get his bird.

Flyer - June went under the arc and behind the guns then back out to her bird.
Right - She went down the hill, crossed the pond on a great line towards her mark. Out of the water, she went up the terraced hill right of the guns. She hunted deep and took one loop right to quickly get her bird.
Long Middle - She went down the hill and into the pond, angling right out of it. Onto the levee and into the second pond, she ran around and up the terrace straight to her bird.
Flyer - June went under the arc and behind the guns then back out to her bird.
Right - She went down the hill, crossed the pond on a great line towards her mark. Out of the water, she went up the terraced hill right of the guns. She hunted deep and took one loop right to quickly get her bird.
Long Middle - She went down the hill and into the pond, angling right out of it. Onto the levee and into the second pond, she ran around and up the terrace straight to her bird.

BEAVER CREEK'S MAGIC WHITE LIGHTNING, "Madge," with handler Sol Semmler came to the line at 11:06 am for their final test.
Flyer - Great line all the way to her bird.
Right - Madge went into the pond on a line towards the bird. She angled back left coming in wide left of the guns. Angling up the hill to the right, she came in behind the guns and then out to her bird.
Long Middle - She went down the hill into the first pond. Coming out on the right side, she went up and over the levee and into the back pond. Exiting out of the water, she went straight up the terraced hill to the fall area and to her bird.
Flyer - Great line all the way to her bird.
Right - Madge went into the pond on a line towards the bird. She angled back left coming in wide left of the guns. Angling up the hill to the right, she came in behind the guns and then out to her bird.
Long Middle - She went down the hill into the first pond. Coming out on the right side, she went up and over the levee and into the back pond. Exiting out of the water, she went straight up the terraced hill to the fall area and to her bird.

IDAHO'S DUCK'S, BUCK'S & TRUCK'S, "Trucker," with handler Misty Melo came to the line at 10:56 am for the final test.
Flyer - Trucker went out to the fall area and to his bird.
Long Middle - He went up the middle of the pond. Exiting it then traveling up the terrace, he circled around the guns to the left. He came back around the guns to the right then went out and got his bird.
Right - He went down the hill and in and across the pond on a good angle towards the guns. Going up the left side, he came back down to have a brief hunt then he got his bird.
Flyer - Trucker went out to the fall area and to his bird.
Long Middle - He went up the middle of the pond. Exiting it then traveling up the terrace, he circled around the guns to the left. He came back around the guns to the right then went out and got his bird.
Right - He went down the hill and in and across the pond on a good angle towards the guns. Going up the left side, he came back down to have a brief hunt then he got his bird.
11. SWEETIE'S LITTLE DASH-A-RUE QAA, "Dash," LF, Alex Drent
SWEETIE'S LITTLE DASH-A-RUE QAA, "Dash," with handler Alex Drent came to the line at 10:45 am for her final test.
Flyer - Nice retrieve.
Long Middle - Dash went through the pond and out by the far right corner. She went over the terraces and up the hill straight to her bird.
Right - She went down and into the pond, angling the swim towards the far point. She got out and up onto the point and into the field just short of the bird. She took one turn then back to her bird.

Gun Change - Conditions - 10th Series
We had our first gun change after dog # 9 completed her 10th series at 10:25 am.
Dog #5 is running out of order to give time to handlers with multiple dogs.
The rain has continued on and off all morning, and the temperatures have dropped a bit. Despite the adverse conditions the dog work seeming to be consistent and good.

5. RAZOR'S BUCKSHOT, "Shooter," LM, Christian Alt
RAZOR'S BUCKSHOT, "Shooter," with handler Christian Alt came to the line at 10:30 am for his last test.
Flyer - Straight to the bird.
Right - Shooter went down the hill and across the pond and up the terrace to the bird. Very Nice!
Long Middle - He went down the hill and across the first pond. He angled out the far right corner and over the terrace and levee and went through the second. He went straight to the fall area and missed his bird. Taking a circle by the guns, he came back out to the bird.
Flyer - Straight to the bird.
Right - Shooter went down the hill and across the pond and up the terrace to the bird. Very Nice!

Flyer - Very Nice - straight to his bird.
Right - Rousey got into the pond and came up behind the gunners and went straight to her bird.

BAYOU TECHE PAINT THE BLACK, "Madduxx," with handler Glen Curtis came to the line at 10:00 for his final test.
Flyer - Madduxx went straight to the fall area and had a few tight turns to discover it was alive and six feet further in. But he still got it.
Right - He went down the hill and into the large pond, angling right across it, going towards the point. Out of the water and up the hill Madduxx went straight to his bird.
Long Middle - Down into the first pond, exiting and going over the levee and up the terraced hill, he went around the guns and came back for his bird.
Flyer - Madduxx went straight to the fall area and had a few tight turns to discover it was alive and six feet further in. But he still got it.

June came to the line and recieved a no bird on the flyer. She will be placed back 6 for a rerun.

PEPPERJACK'S DEAL ME AN ACE, "Dealer," with handler Misty Melo came to the line at 9:46 am for their final test.
Flyer - Dealer cut to the flyer area and made a left and right pass before getting his bird.
Long Middle - He out and through the first pond and took the corner of the second pond. Done with the water he went up the hill for a quick retrieve of his bird.
Right - He went into the pond, getting out wide left of the guns. He ran up the hill behind the guns and directly to his bird.
Flyer - Dealer cut to the flyer area and made a left and right pass before getting his bird.

LEADING LADY OF THE PACK, "Lady," with handler Hunter Street came to the line at 9:34 am for the final test.
Flyer - Lady went out to the fall area and got her bird.
Right - She went down the hill and into the left side of the pond, almost to the point. Into and around the point, Lady swam straight to the guns. Deep and to the left of the guns, she hunted a big loop left and then a big loop wide right and to her bird.
Long Middle - She went down the hill and across the middle of the pond over to the right corner, she got out and took the terrace into the second pond. Done with the water, she went up the hill but missed her mark, she turned and hunted left, covering the hill side. She then moved right and got her bird.
Flyer - Lady went out to the fall area and got her bird.
Right - She went down the hill and into the left side of the pond, almost to the point. Into and around the point, Lady swam straight to the guns. Deep and to the left of the guns, she hunted a big loop left and then a big loop wide right and to her bird.
Long Middle - She went down the hill and across the middle of the pond over to the right corner, she got out and took the terrace into the second pond. Done with the water, she went up the hill but missed her mark, she turned and hunted left, covering the hill side. She then moved right and got her bird.
