We had our first gun change after dog # 9 completed her 10th series at 10:25 am.
Dog #5 is running out of order to give time to handlers with multiple dogs.
The rain has continued on and off all morning, and the temperatures have dropped a bit. Despite the adverse conditions the dog work seeming to be consistent and good.

Conditions Report
The sun is higher in the sky, yet the visibility of the right hand bird has not improved due to the long shadows from the tree line and those in the field itself. The winds have picked up and the temperatures have only risen slightly. The flyer station continues to have issues with no birds.

Condition Update - 6th Series
Our temperature is now at 56 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Our wind is WSW at 16 MPH.
A bit chilly but we are still getting these dogs through their 6th test.

Gun Change - Weather - Updates - 6th Series
Our first gun change for the 6th series happened at 9:55 am.
The skies are cloudy with a WSW wind at 13 MPH. The temperature is at 57 degrees.
These young dogs are doing this test in multiple ways. The judges are going to have a lot to look at with this test!

***Delay - Visibility
After the first test dog "Queen" attempted the 6th test, about 8:00 am the judges announced they would have a delay before "Zeke," the second test dog, would run so visibility could improve.
It's is a misty foggy morning with the temps at 64 degrees. The wind is at the handlers back between 10-15 MPH.

Rain Delay
We ran the first Test Dog, Queen and then the rain started to come down. We all headed for the shelter of our tents or trucks and the Judges decided to suspend the Field Trial until the conditions cleared and the visibility improved.

Rain Delay - Conditions - 5th
The thing with isolated showers is you never know when they are going to pop up. Well we had a shower that delayed us about 20 minutes from 3:15 - 3:37 pm.
Gun Change / Conditions - 5th Series
Gun changed happened after dog # 39 "Virgil" and handler Ray Vreeland finished their Water Single.
Currently we are at 79 degrees, with the humidity dropping to 65%. The wind is SSE at 17 MPH.
As we are approaching later afternoon / early evening the chances of isolated thunderstorms increase.
But right now we looking like we are in good shape to complete the 5th series without any weather issues.

Gun Change / Conditions - 4th Series
Our second gun changed came at 10:03 pm.
We have a bit of an increase in temperature to 75 degrees and the wind as changed tiny bit. It is now coming in SSE at 14 MPH.
The high is only going to be 79 degrees and we have a chance of isolated thundershowers tonight. Lets hope it holds off until we can complete day two of the 2018 National Retriever Derby Championship.

The first gun change for the 4th series happened at 9:08 am.
The current temperature is 71 degrees with 90% humidity. The wind is out of the SE at 13 MPH. There still is a 50% chance of rain.

Quick Conditions Update
We have noticed the wind has picked up to 18 MPH. We will see if this increase is going to change the work of these dogs.
2nd Gun Change - Series One - Conditions
Our second gun change for the first series happened at 9:36 am.
The temperature is 73 degrees with the wind now coming out of the south at 16 MPH.
The dog work has been what you would expect at a Derby. There have been dogs stepping on both bird, dogs with hunts deep or wide and one pick up. Over all the work is good and shows the National caliber of the dogs.

Test One - Gun Change and Conditions
Our first gun changed happened at 8:44 am after Doc and Tony were finished with their rerun.
Our temperature is at 72 degrees with the humidity at 88%. The skies are party cloudy and we have a SSE wind at 12 MPH.
